Good morning!
So, it’s the 7th day of 2013, and this is what we have for you: Berry’s turd of an older sister, Sugar Tart. Sugar Tart was invented back in 2011, shortly after we decided that we were going to make a comic together. We’d come up with the main characters already, and were probably somewhere in the design phase with them at the time. I remember chatting with Sarah about Berry’s family at work, and that’s when we decided that his sister should be super pretty and sort of an a-hole. Incidentally, she was much easier to design than her brother, but maybe it’s because we’ve both been doodling unicorns for the last 8 months and now we’re pretty well used to it. Maybe someday we’ll introduce you to his parents, if we can find an amusing way to do it.
Here’s something potentially interesting: I might be representing the Carrie/Sarah duo in a podcast soon. The podcast will detail the experiences of 4 newbie web cartoonists trying to find their foothold on the internet and in the webcomics community at large. We’ll be talking about all kinds of webcomic related topics from artistic processes to marketing strategies. There might also be some “feelings” involved. I think it’ll be a lot of fun, and I hope you’ll listen in once we have something up and running. I’ll let you know when there’s something to go see. Right now, we’re in the “my mic isn’t working, I’m just going to type” phase at the moment, so it could be a few weeks. :)
Thanks for reading! Sugar Tart has come to stay at Juniper for a little while, so come back next week to see more of her…
Adios!

isn’t that trespassing?
You know guys, I just realized that I’ve been taking for granted just how perfect your characters’ expressions always are. The overall quality of your artwork has been incredible from the get-go (and like any good wine only gets better with time), but I’ve never stopped to really look closely at the faces until today because they’ve always been so “natural”. What’s even more impressive is that these are dragons and unicorns (and giant worms) we’re talking about.
You guys should be damn proud of yourselves. I’m really looking forward to the continued improvements to the website and seeing just what kind of crazy awesome heights Juniper reaches.
Ryan, that hits me right in my heart place. :) Thanks so much for your awesome compliments, and thanks for sticking with us!
